Rift 1 (rft) n.
Geology a long narrow zone of faulting resulting from tensional stress in the earth’s crust: The rift valley
Rift 2 (rft) n.
A break in friendly relations: a rift between siblings. V. rift-ed, rift-ing, rifts I have been photographing along the Great Rift Valley for nine years.
I have travelled to Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Congo, Burundi, Kenya and Tanzania. Since I have arrived in East Africa I have tried to understand what happens here beyond the news. The project is a bit of a dream world bringing together people and place. I photograph daily life, people working, a baby being born, war - alongside the ancient and vast geography of the rift.
